No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem

Postcard US-3038790 to Germany was one of those postcards I bought at the tropical themed casino Margaritaville in Las Vegas, showing a trio of parrots relaxing on the beach by a "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem" sign post. Since a parrot can really sing "I'm Sexy and I Know it" as seen on this Youtube video, the above beach scene may not be a total fantasy.

On a technical note, unlike the previous Youtube videos embedded in this blog with the built-in tools from Blogger.com that require Adobe Flash player or browser plug-ins, this video was embedded using the HTML 5 codes provided on the Youtube page under the Share/Embed/Email tabs. I will start to use the HTML 5 codes from now on, so that the embedded videos can be viewed on a mobile devices that do not support Adobe Flash.

Better Late than Never

Postcard US-2849028 to China was a Welcome to Las Vegas card from the tropical themed Margaritaville casino inside the Flamingo in Las Vegas. It was mailed directly from USPS' Philatelic Center in Kansas City after it was sent in to obtain a first-day-of-issue postmark on the Nevada Statehood Forever stamp by mail on July 26, 2014, along with other cards. Due to the initial delay in selecting a card on my part and a longer-than-usual-processing time at the Philatelic Center in Kansas City, it took exactly 100 days for the card to arrive. Yet it is an encouraging sign, and I hope the rest of those postcards in that order will soon reach their intended recipients.

Forward it to my Palm Pilot

Postcard US-2776605 to Germany shows a plane taking off from tropical islands. The caption under the palm tree stamp on the bottom left reads "Margaritaville", indicating it is a Jimmy Buffett-themed merchandise associated with Jimmy Buffett's casual dining American restaurants and chain stores, named after his hit song "Margaritaville".

In Las Vegas, a Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville restaurant opened at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in December 2003; a Margaritaville "minicasino" inside the Flamingo opened in October 2011. The postcard was purchased at the gift shop there.

The Bahamas

Postcard CA-417264 was sent from the Commonwealth of the Bahamas (The Bahamas), an island country consisting of more than 700 islands in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Florida. With a warm and winterless tropical climate, and only a 6.7°C or 12°F difference between the warmest month and coolest month, it is indeed a vacation destination all year round. It currently costs 0.50 Bahamian Dollars (BSD) to send a postcard from the Bahamas to anywhere in the world. The price varies for letters.
